Shortly after Stephine F. Austin arrived in Texas, the Mexicans gained their independence from Spain. Tejans were now part of the Mexicos new nation. -

Mexico banned slavery. Once this happened they went against the Mexicans rules of the land, and the Mexicans responed by banning any more immagrants. They also sent more Mexican soldiers to Texas. -
