Texas declares it's a free and independent republic. -
A New Commander

A Victory
Sam Huston surprised Santa Anna near the San Jacinto river. Within 18 minutes, the Texans troops killed more then half the Mexican Army and Sanat Anna had to sign a treaty giving Texas its freedom. -
Can We Join
The Texas government asked if they could join the United States but, people thought it would make an uneven balance in slave and free states. And if they did join that Texas might go to war with Mexico. So the question was denied.
