Shona People Grow Crops
The Shona people that lived in what is now Zimbabwe(which didn't really have a name back then) used to grow crops such as sorghum and millet to feed themselves and their familys. This was their food supply. -

Great Zimbabwe
This picture show some of the ruins of the city called "Great Zimbabwe" which was ruled by the Shona people in about 1000 ad. Zimbabwe meant "house of stone in their language, and this city had many great towers such as the one in the picture. -

Trading
In the 1400s, "Great Zimbabwe" was taken over and turned into the Mwanamutapa empire, and people started trading things like ivory, copper, and gold with India and China. -
Christianity is Accepted in Rhodesia
Although in the 1500s the Portuguese introduced Christianity to Rhodesia, the Rhodesians didn't accept it until the 1800s. They had many churches and many people became Christian at this period. -
War for Independence
This picture shows some of the soldiers in Southern Rhodesia since Northern Rhodesia was called Zambia by this time. Southern Rhodesia wanted independence, so this was their war for independence. The war basically started around 1964 and went on until independence was recognized. -
Southern Rhodesia gains independence as Zimbabwe
This was when Zimbabwe's independence was officially recognized by the UK and all other countries. Before this, they had tried to declare independence but it was not recognized by other countries. -
Mining
Mining has always been a big part of Zimbabwe, ever since the beginning of it's history. People would mine minerals for trade with India and China.
