Marie moves to Paris with her sister who is attending a medical school there. -

Marie enrols in Sorbonne University in Paris and becomes a major in physics. she then realises she needs a laboratory to work in. she then met her future husband Pierre Curie. -

Marie found that elements like Uranium and Uranium gave of Particles. this where she came up with the idea of radioactivity which comes from the word 'rays' in Latin. -

Marie wins the Davy Medal with Pierre for their research into radium. -

Pierre dies
Pierre was killed accidentally in a street accident.During this accident his skull was run over by a buggy and crushed. Marie became very depressed similar to when she was a child. Sorbonne University gave Marie Curie the option to take over Pierre's job, being the first woman chair of the Physics department as well as their first woman professor. -
Nobel Prize in Chemistry
Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. She was the sole winner of this award. It was for work she did after her husbands death while she held his position at Sorbonne University. This is significant because it was her first and only prize won by herself and she was recognized for all of the work done and her own ideas. -

Death
After Marie's recent visit to her home land, she fell ill. Only a few months later, she passed away because of aplastic anemia, a bone marrow circulation problem/disease. This disease is very often linked with over exposure to radioactive substances.
