Dad was an acholic
Amelia Earhart's dad was an acholic for most of her life. This caused her parents to get in a divorce. The divorce made Amelia never want to marry and caused her to reject several men who had asked her to marry them....until G.P. came along... -
Sisters
Her sister was a tomboy as well. She encoaged Amelia to be herself and not give up. To not be what others wanted but to be what she wanted. -
Dad
Her dad was an acholic and lost jobs frequentlly lost jobs and made them move alot. He was unable to hold a job and scared Amelia for life. She lived her life poor and finally got money when her mothers parents died and gave each of their kids a share of their money, and asked that they put their money in an acount. Her dad wanted to break the promise of keeping the account closed for several years. When he finally did they found that her brother had taken money and left very little for them. -

No rights for women
Women had little rights and were treated like mans lesser. This was a problem for Amelia because she liked being herself and not what a parent or husband told her to be. That was not proper manners for a young lady. -
Flying
She began taking flight lessons, and soon after, bought her own plane. Amelia bought a bright yellow plane and named it The Canary. -
George Putnam
Amelia met her future husband, G.P. His real name was George Putnam and he liked her from the start. G.P. was her helper long before he married her. Amelia slowly began to like him as more then just a co-worker... -
Records are set
April 8, 1931 was the day Amelia Earhart set her altitude record of 18,451 feet high. Then in the August of 1932, she set the speed record from Los Angeles to California to New York to New Jersey. -
The Atlantic
On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart began her first solo flight across the Atlantic. She had been the first girl across, the first person to go across twice, first woman to fly it alone and she flew across in the fastest time. -
Hitler
Hitler was begining to take over Germany and come to power. This all started a few years before Amelia Earhart was lost at sea. -

Rosevelt was in office March 4, 1933 to April 12, 1945. His wife was Elenor Rosevelt and she was good friends with Amelia Earhart. -
Went missing
Amelia earhart went missing over the Pacific Ocean along with her navigater. We are still unsure as to if she died imediately or was captured or worse.
