    Amelia Earhart's dad was an acholic for most of her life. This caused her parents to get in a divorce. The divorce made Amelia never want to marry and caused her to reject several men who had asked her to marry them....until G.P. came along...

    Her sister was a tomboy as well. She encoaged Amelia to be herself and not give up. To not be what others wanted but to be what she wanted.

    Her dad was an acholic and lost jobs frequentlly lost jobs and made them move alot. He was unable to hold a job and scared Amelia for life. She lived her life poor and finally got money when her mothers parents died and gave each of their kids a share of their money, and asked that they put their money in an acount. Her dad wanted to break the promise of keeping the account closed for several years. When he finally did they found that her brother had taken money and left very little for them.

    Women had little rights and were treated like mans lesser. This was a problem for Amelia because she liked being herself and not what a parent or husband told her to be. That was not proper manners for a young lady.

    April 8, 1931 was the day Amelia Earhart set her altitude record of 18,451 feet high. Then in the August of 1932, she set the speed record from Los Angeles to California to New York to New Jersey.
