The Spaniards murder Chief Lempira of the Lencas
When the Spaniards came to invade Honduras the indigenous did not go down without a fight. During this fight the Lencas' chief, Chief Lempira, was captured and killed. The Spaniards did conquer Honduras after a bitter fight. -
San Miguel Arcangel cathedral built in Honduras
San Miguel Arcangel cathedral is knownfor its fine arts and containing one of the oldest clocks in the world. The clock was made over 800 years ago and given to the cathedral by King Phillip II of Spain. -

The war broke out because of a a World Cup elimination between the two countries, but the underlying cause was the border dispute between Honduras and El Salvador. Around 300,000 immigrants from El Salvador moved to Honduras in search of land, so Honduras's government made it illegal for Salvadoran immigrants to own land. -
Mayan population begins to decrease
Many Mayan cities were abondened which led to a population decrease. One of the theories of the population decrease of the Mayans is population increase. They needed more living space so they used farming land and were not able to grow enough food.
