At 4:30 A.M in charleston South Carolina the confederates open fire on fort Sumter with 50 cannons. General Pierre Beauregard This is the first battle of the American civil war. -
Anaconda plan
The anaconda plan was put into action to stop all ships from entering and leaving confederate ports. This would cut off the supplys from being spread around the south. This was very evident since alot of the confederate army had no shoe and old uniforms. -

Lincoln finishes his final Emancipation Proclamation freeing all slaves in confederate land and says the union army will now inlist black soldiers. -

This law was passed to get more manpower by forcing all men between 20 and 45 to join the military. They could get out of it by substituting someone else or paying 300 dollars. -

General grant makes a huge mistake when he ordered an attack on cold harbor virginia. He lost 7000 union men in 20 minutes. All of the soldiers new it was bad as they wrote in there diarys. -

Shermen lead his 62000 men from atlanta to savannah destroying everything in his way. He destroyed warehouse railroads, and anyhting else in his 300 mile rampage. After he offered lincoln savannah for christmas. -

General Lee surrenders his troops to Ulysses S Grant at Appomattox Court House . Grant allows the rebels to have pistols and horses as a sign of respect. -
Lincoln shot
In ford theater At 10:13 during the third act John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in the head . He died the next day.
