Truman 9981
Truman signs Executive Order 9981, which states, "It is hereby declared to be the policy of the President that there shall be equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion, or national origin." -

Dr. Ralph Bunche wins the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize -
KKK strikes again
Home of NAACP activists Harry and Harriette Moore in Mims, Florida is bombed by KKK group. The both of them die from horriable injuries. -
Students Segregted in Delaware
Eleven black students attend the first day of school at Claymont High School, Delaware, becoming the first black students in the 17 segregated states to integrate a white public school. The day occurred without incident or notice by the community. -
Brown v. Board
Seperated but equal is proven to be wrong in school systems. This is a victory for the NAACP and for the attorney Thurgood Marshall. -
Emmitt Till
14 year old boy, Emmitt Till gets kidnapped and kill for whisling at a white women. The two men went in front of an all white jury and were "not gillty." They later had an interveiw with Look mag. and confessed to committing the crime. -
Lamar Smith
Lamar Smith was shot dead on the courthouse lawn by a white man in the middle of the day. Dozens of people saw but no one wouls say what they saw. -
Rosa Parks
A colored women Rosa Parks did not give up her seat to a white man that wanted her to move to the back of the bus. This was a stronge and coragest move. -
Autherine Lucy
Autherine Lucy went to the University of Alabama. The whites of the school riot, and she is suspended because of it. She is expelled for her part in further legal action against the university. -
NO BUSES
After more than a year of boycotting the buses and a legal fight, the Montgomery buses desegregate. -
Little Rock, ArK
9 Students were not allowed into there school because of the orders of Governor Orval Faubus. Eisenhower had a problem with this so he sent men to stop the madness. The kids were known as "Little Rock Nine." -
Sit-in
Four Students stood at Woolworths lunch counter which was made for whites only. The four did nothing but stand. Woolworth lunch counter finally offered them food. This spread all through the south. -
JFK and MLK
MLK meets John F. Kennedy for the first time in person, This was a life changing event. -
MLK Arrested
MLK and fifty others arrested at sit-in at Atlanta’s Rich’s Department Store.
