    Germany invades Czechoslovakia
    Germans invaded Czechoslovakia in March 1939, despite signing the Treaty of Munich. The Treaty of Munich had listed that Hitler was not allowed to invade Czechoslovakia or he would be breaking the law. This was important to the war because it was the innitial spark that caused Britain and France to prepare for war.

    The Soviet-Nazi Pact
    The Soviet-Nazi Pact was the agreement between Germany and Russia would not fight each other if the invaded Poland, They would then split Poland in half. This was important to the war because it allowed Hitler to do what he wished with Poland. His actions then caused Britain and France to mobilize in the second World War.

    The Germans invaded Poland to gain territory in the war. This was important because it mobelized France and Britain. The Polish military then became friends with the Allies.

    Canada enters the war one week after Britain and France declare war on Germany. This is important to the war because it provides extra hands for hte Allies and another enemy to the Entente. Because Canada joined the war, the Allies won the second world war.

    The Phony War was the time span where very little fighting took place between Germany and the Allies. Germany had finished fighting in Poland and was preparing to attack France. October 1939 - April 1940. This was important to the war because it gave time for countries to prepare and evacuate for further continue of the war.

    The Invasion of Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium
    Hitler invaded, Norway, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium to gain ground on the British forces, to try to conquer all of Western Europe, and invade the Soviet Union. This happened April – May 1940. This invasion was important to the German army because the areas invaded contained huge ore and other mineral deposits used to make war militia.

    Germany invaded France to reclaim lost land from World War One and strike fear in the Allies of capturing the heart and capital of France; Paris. This was important to the German army because it struck fear into the Allies and also gave the Nazis plenty of ground to control. WIth further pushes to fight over France, because Germany invaded France it led to memorable battles within history.

    The Miracle at Dunkirk
    The Miracle at Dunkirk was the rescue of the French and British army at the port in Dunkirk after they had to retreat to the sea from advancing German forces. Over the course of ten days, ships, boats, row boats, and yachts showed up to the port to rescue the stranded troops saving 340 000 out of 350 000. This was important to the war because it gave people hope and also because the armies saved from Dunkirks waters would then keep fighting for further battles.

    The Battle of Britain
    The Battle of Britain was the series of bombings and battles in the air that Hitler aggressed towards Britain to destroy the British people’s morale’s. This happened from the 10th of July to the 31st of October, 1940.The Battle of britain was extremely important because it led to the innitial outcome fo the war. At the time, the Spanish, Turkish and U.S. Generals were ready to cut a deal with Hitler. Because Britain won the air battle even though outnumbered 3 to 1, it gave the world hope.

    The Fall of France
    The Fall of France was when Frances army lost a six week battle in 1940 and Nazi Germany gained control of all of France. Before the fall, France had been split in two, the northern half was occupied by German soldiers and the bottom half was ocnsidered a "free zone". This was important to the war because many battles took place in the free zone of France which led to the total control of France by Nazi Germany and had them gain further ground in the war.

    Operation Barbarossa was Hitler’s attack against Russia, surprising Russia because they had signed a treaty back in 1939. This was important to the war because the Allies gained an ally, and the Germans gained a foe.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was the Japanese attacking the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This was important to the war because it involved the United States in the war and recognized other foes (the Japanese).

    The bright red are the ares occupied under Nazi Germany. The light pink are the German independant states, the grey is neutral territory, and the grey-blue are the Allies territory.
