When Macedonia became independent the country changes from capitalism to communism. The rights of the people changed. An example is they can go to church now and get in trouble for it. In the communism there was a low, middle and high class but on the capitalism middle class disappeared. -

The constitution of the ‘Republic of Macedonia’ is adopted. -
Greece made a statement to Macedonia
The Greek Council of Ministers deals with the issue of the ‘Republic of Macedonia’ in view of the European Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels and concludes on the following three terms:
The new state must change the name ‘Macedonia’;
It must declare that it has no aspirations nor claims against Greece;
It must acknowledge that there exists no ‘Macedonian’ minority in Greec -
Changes
After the Independence Day, Macedonia slowly started to progress. People life’s was changed because Macedonia was agricultural country and did not have many technologies. Also all the factories were going down because they were not working with other countries now. That is why all of the factories were on sale for people to buy them. But as years go by Macedonia is progressing. -

Seven EU countries (Italy, Spain, Ireland, Britain, Denmark, Germany and Sweden) recognise FYROM. -
European Socialist Party ‘concerning the FYROM
The European Parliament adopts with 106 votes to 38 a resolution proposed by the European Socialist Party ‘concerning the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.’ The resolution:
invites FYROM to change its flag and amend the objectionable articles of its Constitution;
invites the Greek government to reconsider its decision to impose a trade blockade on FYROM;
invites Greece and FYROM to resume negotiations under the aegis of the UN and with the assistance of the European Union, if they so wish. -

According to the official results of the census carried out in FYROM in June 1994, Slav Macedonians number 1,288,330 or 66,5% of the population. Albanians are 22,9%, Turks 4%, Roma (Gypsies) 2,3%, Serbs 2% and Vlachs 0,4%. Approximately 35,000 persons (Montenegrins, Croats, Czechs, Greeks, Bulgarians, Jews, Polish) are assigned to the ‘Other’ category. -
