Church choir
When she was six, Ashanti sung in a gospel choir, but her mother discovered her full singing potential when she overheard Ashanti singing Mary J. Blige's "Reminisce" to her at age twelve. -
BIG BREAK
Ashanti starred in her first national television show on walt disney by the name of "Polly" she acted along side of Keshia Knight Pulliam, Jomecia Moore, and Phylicia Rashad. -
Early dancing
Not only did ashanti start singing by the age of 6, she learned to dance by the age of 11.Dancing for her came naturally, and not only one paticular dance, many dances including tap, jazz, ballet, African, modern, and hip hop. she later included these dances into many of her hit singles on her debut albums. -
THE APOLLO!!!
By the age of 14 ashanti had already started working on her carrer performing at many major theaters and shows such as the,Caribbean Awards, Carnegie Hall, and even the apollo where many stars where born, including -The Jackson 5, Patti LaBelle, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, & Aretha Franklin. Just to name a few. -
The 1st Deal
the same year ashanti performed at the apollo, she had been signed to jive records at the age of 14. However that deal did not make it more than a year because the focused on making ashanti a pop singer and that was not her style. -
The Next Step
Ashanti was later approaced by yet another recording company named epic records.However once again they made ashanti a low priority and that contract had quickly ended. -
Moving on up.
Ashanti continued to go to new york clubs and performing tring to get yet another big break. She was invited to irv gotti's "Murder inc" studio and they laid down many tracks. He saw something in her and strived to bring it out. Her song that was made there latter appeared on the "The Fast and the Furious" soundtrack. Thats when "ASHANTI" became known. -
Debut
By january 2002 ashanti was known as the princess of R&B. she had been signed yet again to murder inc records. Had her debut album out that sold over 503,000 copies in its first week of release throughout the U.S.The album set a Soundscan record as the biggest opening week sales for a new female artist, outselling debuts by Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill In the same week, Her album had become triple platinum. -
Once Again
ashanti had dropped another album which was entitled "Chapter II".which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 326,000 copies in the U.S.. The album went Platinum, selling 6.9 million copies in U.S. -
AWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!
the self titled debut album had her win her first Grammy award for Best Contemporary R&B album.She received the Soul Train Aretha Franklin Award for "Entertainer of the Year". -
Concrete Rose
The album debuted at number seven in the U.S with first week sales of 254,000 copies, and eventually became her third platinum certified album. The first single, the gold-certified "Only U", reached number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her biggest hit in the United Kingdom, Later in 2005, Ashanti was invited to Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball, which honored some of the most influential and legendary African American women of the twentieth century in the fields of entertainment. -

currently in the studio working on her fifth album, that is being released off her own record label Written Entertainment. Ashanti’s new single & album is set to come out later on this year.
