Harry S. Truman becomes president this date as a result of Franklin D Roosevelt's death. He assumes all responsibilites of FDR and assumes all positions Roosevelt had. -
Hitler commits suicide
Hitler commited suicide by gunshot and cyanide poisoning. For many years, the whereabouts of Hitler's remains were not made available to the public making it a conspiracy as to whether he really died. -

Victory in Europe Day is the date when the World War II Allies accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany It is also the date of the end of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. -
