After ignoring warnings from France and Great Britain, Germany invaded Poland. This marked the beginning of World War II. -

At age 12, my granda finishes 7th grade. It was in very small school with only one room. -
France Surrenders to Germany
After a vicious attack useing blitzkreig tactic, France surrenders. They retreat south from the defenseless Maginot Line. -
Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor
The Japanese use a surprize attack on the U.S. naval outpost know as Pearl Harbor. Many are dead and most of the U.S. naval fleet is destroyed. -
Grandparents Mourn
After recieving new about Pearl Harbor my grandparents are shocked. The both had friends whos parents were living near Pearl Harbor. -
Distant Cousine Hospitalized
One of my distant cousines gets hit by a speeding car and is the hospital for 3 weeks. It occured in West Virginia. -

A battle between Japan and the U.S. in the Pacific. The U.S. wins the air/boat clash. -

A battle between the Axis and the Soviet Union over control of Stalingrad. The Soviet Union won the battle. -
Grandpa's dog dies
A collie named Jack dies of natural causes. It was buried behind my grandpa's house. -
D-Day
The battle between the Allies and Germany. The Allies made landings onto the shores of Normandy. It was an Ally Victory. -
New's of D-Day
Hearing the new's a D-Day was a huge event for my grandma. She stayed up very late listening to the news. -
Allies Liberate Paris
A battle between the Allies and Germany. The allies successfully frees Paris for the French. -

After hearing the news about the newly freed paris, my grandma was excited. She once again listened to the new very late for any new events. -
Battle of the Buldge
Battle between the Allies and Germany. The U.S. had lost about 19,000 men making it the single most bloddiest day of fighting in World War II for the U.S. -

After hearing the new's about the many causualties, both of my grandparents were depressed. They wanted to do something to help. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
Battle between the U.S. and Japan. The U.S. manages to capture Iwo Jima from Japan. -

The news of the victory at Iwo Jima cheered my grandparents. They new victory was near. -
FDR dies, Truman become president.
FDR was the only president to serve more than 2 terms in the U.S. He unfortunatley dies when victory was in site for the Allies in WWII. -

The news hit my grandparents like a brick wall. They were sad but in good hopes that Truman will still get the job done. -
Hitler Commits Suicide
Useing a gun and cyanide, Hitler commits suicide. The dual method of a gun and cyanide rose rumors that Hitler was still alive. -

After hearing Hitler was dead, my grandparents were happy. They new Germany would surrender soon. -

Stands for Victory in Europe Day. Germany surrenders to the Allies. -

Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima
The U.S. bomb known as the "Little Boy" was dropped over Hiroshima. The bomb was detonated in the air but still killed many people. -

Atomic Bamb dropped on Nagasaki
The U.S. dropped a bomb called the "Fat Man" over the Japanese city known as Nagsaki. The bombing is estimated to have more than 70,000 people shortly after the bombs went off. -
