Assembly Line
The assembly line was created by the Ford Motor Co. to increase productivity in factories. The first car made using the assembly line was the Ford Model T, The assembly line increased productivity because the item would move down the line to one person to another. The person would have to do the same job numerous times, and would have to do it for 8 hours each day. -
Beggining of the End of Prohibition
Prohibition is repealed in 5 provinces between 1920-1925. In 1948, PEI repealed prohibition, which ended prohibition in Canada. -
Royal Canadian Air Force

William Lyon Mackenzie King becomes Prime minister in Canada between December, 29th, 1921 to June, 26th, 1926, September 26th, 1926 to August, 6th, 1930 and from October, 23rd, 1935 to November, 15th, 1948. King was the leader of the Liberla party. -
Foster Hewitt and Hockey Night in Canada
Foster Hewitt was the announcer for Hockey Night in Canada. He first started broadcasting in 1923, for a CFCA hockey game. He was Canada's premier hockey broadcaster for Hockey Night in Canada, which was Canada's first widely listened to braodcast program. -
Branch Plants
Branch plants were American factories that made products in Canada. I was used as a way to avoid the tariffs from imported goods from U.S. to Canada. The U.S factories were strictly under American rule, which effected the Canadian economy negatively. -

The New York stock market crash occurs in 1929, causing almost all Western civilizations to go into economic depression. The Great Depression would last ten years, until World war 2. Canada's economy was hurt a lot, and caused people to protest in Ottawa. -
Richard Bedford Bennet
Richard Bedford Bennet was the Prime minister of Canada from 1930 to 1935, the worst years of the Great Depression. Since he was Prime minister during the worst years of the depression, he tried to get the economy in good standing. He did this by imposing trade tariffs, and trading within the British Empire. After losing re-election in 1935, he moved to England, and was made Viscount. -
Five Cent Speech
The Five Cent speech was the speech given by William Lyon Mackenzie to the Canadian people and said that he wouldn't give a nickel to anyone who lost their jobs or asked for relief benfits. -
Statue of Westminster
The Statue of Westminster was an act that showed legislative proof of each of the dominions of the British Empire were independent countries. It currently is the basis for the continuing relationship between the Commonwealth and the British Empire. -
CRBC is created
The CRBC is created sometime in 1932. The CRBC is the Canadian Radio Broadcast Corporation, It would later esablish the CBC, and serves as Canada's national public radio and television broadcaster. -

The New Deal was a series of programs that were supposed to get the countries effected by the great depression out. they focused on the three 'R's which were Relief, Recovery, and Reform. -
The Ottawa Trek
The Ottawa trek was the trip that unemployed Canadians went on to protest the bad conditions the government was taking to relieve the unemployed and people in work camps.
