The wars ends and we come together and become a stronger union. -
The wrath of the KKK
The KKK was founded by veterans of the Confederate Army. This was a hate group who targeted religon and race. If the people weren't southern protestants, the KKK didn't accept them. The exact date for the founding of the KKK is unkown, but it was sometime between Aug and Dec 1865. -
We complete the transcontinental railroads
on may 10 1869 the railroad had its last spike drove in. this joned the pacific and central pacific tracks. Collis P. Huntington, Charles Crocker and Mark Hopkins were the four main men envoled in briging the railroad together they were also known as the big four. the railroad connected the 2000 miles to the Missouri River. -
15th Amendment
This amendment prohibits the government to deny a citizen the right to vote based on their color, race, etc. -
Compromise of 1877
Banned reconstruction in the U.S. Reconstruction was to put the nation back together after the Civil War. Hayes was awareded presidency if he took all the troops out of the South. -
Berlin Conferance
The Berlin Conference regulated European colonization and trade in Africa during the New Imperialism period. 14 states attended to claim their part of the continent. The result yielded 50 irregular countries and a destruction of any potential forms of government. -

Populist party
The Populist or People's Party was essentially comprised of agrarian reformers in the Midwest and South. The party developed out of discontent for falling wheat and cotton prices. The leaders advocated a variety of measures to help farmers. -
Women are given rights
Women help us win the war. They should at least be given the right to vote now, which they are. -
Teddy Roosevelt becomes president
After McKinley's assassination Teddy Roosevelt became the new and youngest president so far. -
We get the Panama Canal
The U.S. begins constuction on the Panama Canal. The Canal was completed after about ten year. -
Niagara Movement
The Niagara Movement was an organization founded by William Du Bois. The group advocated full civil rights for Afican Americans and an end to segregation. -
16th Amendment
the sixteenth amendment gives congress more power to levy income taxes. -
Franz Ferdinand was Assassinated
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. His assassination in Serbia by one of the members of the Black Hand triggered a chain of war declaractions that eventually led to WWI.
