Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occured because colonists were very upset with the British taxing all these goods which included....glass,lead,paper and tea. The colonist couldn't boycott these items like they did in the stamp act and the British knew this and the colonist were upset. The British redcots were in Boston and a big uproar occured and the British shot 5 men including a former slave. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party is about the colonies getting together to try to stop what the British are doing. They are mad that the British are lowering their tea's tax so the American tea has a harder time selling. The colonist were mad at this and destroyed 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. Of course the British were mad and closed the harbor. -
Battle of Lexington & Concord
The British had heard of secert weapons being stored and with the British upset about this they sent out British soliders to go to Concord and take care of the sitution. Paul Revere heard about the British and warned the colonists that the British were coming. The colonist hid the weapons and when the British came to take the weapons, their was no weapons to take. On the way back to Boston colonist hid and shot at the British soldiers many died and were wounded. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
This battle was right after the battle of Lexington and Concord.The milita, one night, built on top of the hill defensive walls. The British then sent around 2,500 trops to go to the hill and shoot them off of the hill to stop them. -
Declaration of Independence Signing
The Declaration of Independence was drafted and written by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. The Declaration stated that they colonists wanted to live free from the British. Later this was signed and passed; July 4th 1776 and America was a free country, -
Battle of New York
There were many British soliders and Washington decided to defend his army, but keep them safe also. Many of Washington's men were hurt so he withdrew his men and left the area through Long Island. -
Battle of Trenton
Washington was planning a surpise attack on the Hessians. Washington split up his army into 3 groups of this attack. 1 our of the 3 groups got lost in the harsh weather. Still the battle was over in minutes and the Hessians aka the Germen-British surrendered. The Americans won this battle right after Christmas. -
Battle of Princeton
Washington and his men gave the Americans hope and courage that they might win the war. In this battle Washington went into the war where his men were fighting with the British and told them to keep fighting as best as they could. This is very rare for an commander to do this, but it showed his men how much he cared for them. The Americans won this battle -
Battle of Saratoga
Many British soldiers surrendered which showed that the Americans were powerful. France then offers the Americans their support and help. Horatio Gates is in this war. -
Valley Forge
In the winter of 1777-1778 harsh conditions make it very hard for the Americans to fight. Many Americans and British soliders die in the weather from multiple things. -
Battle of Yorktown
The battle of Yorktown took place in Virgina and started on September 28th and ended on October 19th. Washington closes in on Cornwallis and the French stop him from getting away by sea. Cornwallis surrenders and this is concidered the end of the war. Cornwallis went back to England, but no one respected him and he lived the rest of his life in shame. -
Treaty of Paris
This is the end of the American Revolutionary war. America is offically an independent country from Britian. Their land is from Florida to the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River and with boarder with Cananda too.
