The 13th Amendment
The thirteenth amendment ends slavery. -
KKK Forms
The Ku Klux Klan forms, using terror to maintain white supremacy in the South. To put an end to the KKK's violence the Enforcement Act of 1870 is passed. -
14th Amendment
The Fourteenth Amendment grants african americans United States citizenship. This amendment was a turning point in America's history. -
Transcontinental Railroad
The first transcontinental railroad is completed and connects the east and west coasts. New rails were laid between Omaha, Nebraska, and Sacramento. -
15th Amendment
The Fifteenth Amendment gives blackes the right to vote. It states that no citizen may be denied the right to vote "by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or precio condition of servitude." -
