Boston Massacre
Multiple colonists/civilians had created a mob and were throwing balls of ice at a group of British soldiers. The British eventually got fed up with these actions and shot one of the colonists. Paul Revere drew a picture of this event, in which was seen all across the New World. -
Boston Tea Party
Americans had dressed up/disguised themselves as Native Americans and boarded the British ships. These ships had crates of Tea on them. The Americans dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Battle of Lexington & Concord
The British had plans to capture two American leaders. This plan failed due to spies. The spies warned the Americans of this plan. The Lexington Battle started by one shot. The shot that was heard around the world. The Leftover British soldiers left for Concord. They also brought more men to fight. The British had around 125 casualties due to the Americans. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill was betweent he Americans and the British. The British thought that the Americans would retreat if they attacked. The British were wrong. It took three waves before the Americans left. The main reason for the Americans leaving was they ran low on ammunition. -
Battle of New York
William Howe came and forced George Washington to retreat from Long Island. And after multiple battles Washington was pushed back into New Jersey. -
Declaration of Independence Signing
The Continental Congress had stated that the 13 colonies/states were independent from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson was the person to write this great artifact. -
Battle of Trenton
In this battle Washinton's army sneaks up onto around 900 Hessians. They were able to capture 900 prisoners without many casualites. -
Battle of Princeton
Once the Americans won this battle they had higher hopes for coming out of the entire war witha their own country. Also in this battle George Washington rode his horse into the field and told all of his men to keep fighting instead of retreating. -
Battle of Saratoga
Washington catches Burgoyne near Saratoga. George had forced Burgoyne to surrender. This war lead to the French giving support to the Americans. -
Valley Forge
This battle went through the winter. It started in 1777 and ended on June 19, 1778. The winter was terribly harsh conditons. Stueben had come along and trained and disciplined Washington's "rag tag" army. -
Battle of Yorktown
Washington's spies had given George information on the postion of Charles Cornwallis. George had proceeded to that position and a battle started between the two men. Once George one the war was practically over. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty was a document giving America their own independence from England. It was listing the boundaries of America, and mainly Canada.
