Jamestown colony created
Jamestown, founded on May 14, 1607, was the first permanent English colony established in America. It was located on a peninsula of the James River in the present-day state of Virginia. -
Plymouth colony created
The pilgrims left England to find religious freedom and find a better life style. The Pilgrims sailed away in the Mayflower. They landed in Plymouth Mass. on Dec. 26, 1620. -
Massachusetts Bay Colony created
The colony arrived in Salem in June. 11 ships with over hundreds of settlers made it to the New World. John Winthrop was the first to govern the colony in the New World. -
New Amsterdam becomes New York
In 1664 New Amsterdam was passed to be in the English possession. In 1686 the colony formed the name of New York. -
