Body image is how you see yourself when you look in the mirror or when you picture yourself in your mind (2). People can develop a negative body image which creates negative thoughts and makes you emotionally unstable at times. One should try to develop a positive body image so you can see your true self (2). Negative body images can create eating disorders and are more likely to become depressed, isolated, and more; the media can have a negative impact on your body image as well (3). -

In order to improve your self-image, one ask the following things of themselves. (found on pages 3-4)
•Ask if you’re benefitting from focusing on your physical flaws
•Reasons why you are happy
•Spend less time in front of mirrors
•Exercise for the joy of it
•Participate in activities you like, even if it calls attention to your physical being
•Refuse to wear clothes I don’t feel comfortable wearing
•Practice taking people seriously

Other strategies or ways to enhance your growth and development could be to make a list of goals for yourself. You could, also, go hit the gym a couple of times a week, while still maintaining a healthy diet. If you still have a negative body image, possibly try writing down positive things people have said about you. These are only a few of many ways one can enhance their growth and development. -

I feel like over the years, I have obtained positive self-image. I stopped caring what others have thought about me physically and how they thought of me as a person. To do this, I asked myself what I thought of myself, not what other negative people thought. -

I put aside what the media said and is saying and focus on what I need to do to become a better person rather than a better-looking person. When I look in the mirror, I am pretty satisfied with who, what, and where I am today. I play soccer to keep in shape (and because I live and breath it). I try to eat healthy to maintain a positive body image.
