The typewriter was invented by Christopher Sholes in 1866. The keys of the typewriter jammed a lot, so James Densmore made up the idea of the QWERTY keyboard which consisted of split up keys for most commonly used keyes in English. -

In 1874, Joseph Glidden invented a new type of barbed wire. Before barbed wire came out, farmers didn't have much land because there wasn't enough fencing to go all around their distnce. They used wooden fences which also costed alot of money. Joseph Glidden not only told farmers how to make it, but he also made a machine that produces barbed wire. Today, Joseph's barbed wire is the most popular and used barbed wire ever. -
Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone. Bell's improvement on the telegraph became into his sucess of a telephone. During this, Elisha Gray and Bell tried multiple times to improve their new design, of the telephone. Bell was experimenting with signals from one place to another. And Bell won the battle of who invented the telephone. -

Moving Pictures
In 1877 Thomas Edison made the first Moving Pictures. He made it by putting a sound system and a recording system into it. Then Thomas Edison made a Kinetoscope to help the moving pictures. The Kintoscope helped by making good images. Then after a few years, he made a movie theater called The Black Maria. Thomas Edison sold about two to tree hundred films at the movie theater called Black Maria. People all over the world loved the moving pictures and it became a success. -
Eadweard Muybridge~ Moving Picture~Zoopraxiscope
Eadweard Muybridge invented the Zoopraxiscope which was used to show motion pictures. The Zoopraxiscope projected images from a rotating glass disc moving the images quickly giving an impression of movement or motion. The Zoopraxiscope disc looked much like a record player disc but on the outside part of the disc had images slightly diffrent from the ones next to it. Then when the disc is turned rapidly you see a motion picture. -

Christmas Lights
In 1882, the first Christmas tree was lit by Edward Johnson with the use of electricity. It was lit in New York City with eighty small electric light bulbs. By 1890, Christmas lights were being produced because before the invention of Christmas lights, families would light their trees with candles. Lighting trees with candles was not very safe because it would often create a fire. To this day, Christmas lights are still being used and they are a national tradition for the Christmas holiday. -
Paper-strip photographic film,George Eastman
In 1880 George Eastman began manufacturing the dry-plate photographic film. Four years later in 1884, he produced a transparent roll film. In 1888 he created a hand-held Kodak camera with a roll of transparent film, this made photography possible and affordable. Then in 1892 Eastman established the Eastman Kodak Company. He was successful and we see Kodak cameras to this day, thanks to Eastman.
