  • Computers invented

    Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web by creating the first web browser and developing the HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) and HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) computer language in 1991 in order to make global connection easier for everyone.   • Television Invented

    The first television was invented in 1927 by Philo Farnsworth after many years of development by others, but at this stage it was black and white only. The first commercial TV programs began in the USA in 1948, communicating news and shaping public opinion. Five years later colour television was invented, but it took until 1965 in order to be available to the public in the USA and even until 1975 in Australia.
  • Internet Invented

    ARPANET, developed in the 1960s, was the first to join multiple separate networks – the beginning of the internet- but it took until the 1980s to commercialise the internet, removing all restrictions.
  • Mobile 1G Networks invented

    Launched by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 1979, 1G was first introduced to the citizens of Tokyo. By 1984, the first generational network covered all of Japan, making it the first country to have 1G service nationwide. It wasn't until March 6, 1983, that Ameritech introduced 1G to the United States.
