6.3 Learning Assessment: Consequences of Unhealthy Behaviors

  • Unhealthy and Risky Behaviors

Risky behaviors are not all bad or have a bad outcome. They are actions that take you out of your comfort zone. "These
risky behaviors can generate differing emotions such as excitement
and anxiety, even though the risks are fairly minimal" (Health Promotion & Disease Prevention 8). There are unhealthy behaviors that are considered risk behavior. "Risks that can be dangerous to a person’s health or the health of others are: smoking, drugs, ect" (Health Promotion and Disease Prevention 8).
  • Prevention

Take time to reflect on the action you are about to make and consider if it is going to harm you. "You may want to ask yourself which adult or trusted older person
could I speak to who may provide me with some thoughts
about my decision making"(Health promotion & Disease prevention 10).
  • Personal Story

A person I know decided to go to a party in the next neighborhood over. She knew there was going to be underage drinking and drugs there. At the party, she started to partake in those unhealthy risk behaviors. When the party was over, she thought she was ok to drive home because she just lived across the main road. On her way home she was drunk and ran into a car head on. Both lived but the other driver had a head injury and other minor impact injuries. She cut her leg and lost full mobility.
