In 1739, he moved to Hainburg to apprentice with Johann Matthias Frankh to become a musician at 6 years old.

Moves to Vienna

Mar 31, 1740

In 1740, Haydn moved to Vienna to be tutored by Georg von Reutter, the director of music at St. Stephen's Cathedral. He worked here for 9 years.

Kapellmeister

Mar 31, 1766

Haydn was appointed Kapellmeister of the wealthy Esterhazy family.

Symphony No. 94 Premieres

Mar 23, 1792

The premiere took place at the Hanover Square Rooms in London with Haydn leading the orchestra seated at a fortepiano.
