    At the end of August my mom sent off her first born to her first day of school at Stories Creek Elementary. My teacher was Ms. Tilman who has gone on to serve on our board of education. She still recognizes me to this day and we always stop and speak when we see each other. A lot has changed since I went to kindergarten. There is no longer a nap time and I most definitely could not wear my first day of school outfit now.

    I tried out for and made the Chorus in my elementary school. I had a wonderful music teacher who created an entire concert for us to perform. It was full of all different kinds of music and there was even some skits. As you can see, we made it into the local newspaper.

In 2009 my team and I were able to defeat the almost all the teams in our conference to become the OPAC volleyball Champions.     I, along with 27 other girls from my town, competed and trained for the Distinguished Young Woman competition from July through September. It was a wonderful bonding and growing experience for all of us. We compete in categories such as academics, interview, talent, poise, fitness, and more. I won both the Be Your Best Self Award and Academics and earned a $450 scholarship.
