Ray Tomilson, known as the inventor of email, developed the first system in 1971 that was able to send electronic mail between users on different hosts. Email enables us to exchange messages using different devices and has greatly helped to communicate much easier and faster. -
The Global Positioning System (GPS)
The GPS is a satellite-based radio navigation system that provides geolocation. The project was started in 1973 but was not made available until later years. Roger Lee Easton, Sr. is known to be the original inventor of GPS. The GPS has been useful for maps, navigation, tracking positions and people, and locating devices, which has made life easier and a bit safer. -
The First Cell Phone
In 1973, Motorola engineer Martin Cooper created a handheld mobile phone and made the first cell phone call. A cell phone is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency. Cell phones have allowed people to stay connected and added a sense of security by being able to make a call from almost anywhere in an instant. -
WordStar
The first word processor, called WordStar, was released in 1979. Its inventors were Seymour Rubenstein and Rob Barnaby. It was the first commercially successful word processing software program. Word processing software provides the convenience of creating, reviewing, and editing text documents.
