the truman doctrine was important because it sent aid to Turkey and Greece after they colapsed in WW2. It was basically a indirect advertisment for democracy. The only other major Power was Communism and it was spreding fast, so by supplying european countries with aid, we won them over. -

The launce of Sputnik was a major Event in the cold war because it showed that the USSR was more technaogicaly advanced than the US. Folowing this was the belief that communism was better than democracy, bringing up the red scare. -
The U2 Incident
The U2 incident was important because it shot off espionage and other cloak and dagger techniques. the spy who wad piloting the plane was sentanced to 2 years of hard labor in a soviet prison.
