    i do not know what i love the most but i know what i love a lot, such as chocolate, music, adventure, and love itself. There is a saying that the greatest gift is love. love is all we need. if that was true why is there so much hate in the world. we feel the hate all the time and all the places we go. how can such traveling lead to hate. traveling brings joy to all who do it and are looking to meet new experiences. experiences enrich life, just as chocolate, music, adventure, and love do.
  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter
    This battle was the first battle of the Civil war. It took place in Charleston, South Carolina. There were no deaths and very few casualties. Some important people were Major Robert Anderson and General Pierre G. T. Beauregard. On April 14, 1861, the Union surrendered to the Confederacy.
  • Bull Run / Manassas

    Bull Run / Manassas
    This battle kicked off the Cival War. It was faught near a stream called Bull Run in Manassas, Virginia. The Union was lead by General Irvin McDowell, while the Confederate was lead by General Joseph E. Johnston. There were around 3,000 casualties for the Union and 2,000 for the Confederate. This was a difficult win for the Confederacy.
  • Fort Donelson

    Fort Donelson
    In northwestern Tennessee, the Union won easily in the battle of Fort Donelson. With this win, the confederacy lost Kentucky and half of Tennessee. The confederates attacked the union first and were also the ones who surrenderd. Because of the battle, the union had 2,800 casualties. General Grant led the Union and General Floyd led the confederacy.

    CSS vs USS
    The battle took place in Hampton Roads,VA. The battle started when the CSS virginia attacked the Union ships. The Union had to act quick. So, they sent an iron clad called, the USS monitor. After Several hours of fighting, the Confederacy didn't know if it was finished yet. The Confederates just put their ship back in their port and the union won by default. This was the era of naval warfare.

    This battle was located at Pittsburg Landing on the Tennesse River and was won by the Union troops. General Ulysses S. Grant led the Union and Albert Sydney Johnston led the Confederacy. Both sides lost over 1,700 troops with 8,000 wounded. The South captured about 3,000 and the North almost 1,000. After the Battle of Shiloh, the Union was much more prepared for surprise attacks.

    The Battle of Antietam took place in Sharpsburg, Maryland. This was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War that resulted in 23,000 deaths and casualties. George B. McClellan led the Union and Robert E. Lee led the Confederacy. As the result of the Union's win, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that ended slavery.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    The battle took place in southern Pennsylvania, in Gettysburg. Between the Union, led by, General George Meade and Confederacy, led by, General Robert Lee. The battle is one of the most famous ones, with over 28,000 casualities, its large size, and its location in a northern state. The battle included great events such as the advance of the Confederacy known as Picketts charge, though the Union came victorious in the end.
  • Vicksburg

    Vicksburg
    In the Vicksburg campaign, General Grant and General Johnson clashed in Tennesee attempting to take control of Vicksburg. There were a seires of bloody attempts to take the fort of Vicksburg. This caused 3,000 deaths on the Union side and 942 on the Confederate side. The Confederates raided Union supply forts. This divided the Confederacy in two. The Union won this difficult battle.

    The Battle of Fort Wagner took place at Charleston, South Carolina from July 18-September 7,1863. Its impact on the war was Confederate abandonment of Fort Wagner. It was a difficult victory for the Union, federal soldiers had to send multiple reinforcements before they had the South finally surrender Fort Wagner
  • Battle of Shenandoah

    Battle of Shenandoah
    The Shenandoah Battle took place at Shenandoah Valley and was a struggle for the Shenandoah Valley, which held many resources that would have been useful to both the Union and the Confederacy. The generals involved were Lee(C) and McClellan(U). This battle was a difficult win for the Union because Jackson(Confederate leader) prevented the Union from sending the reinforcements the Union was counting on.This battle impacted the War because it allowed the Union to have an open March to Richmond.
  • Appomattox Courthouse

    Appomattox Courthouse
    This battle happened at the Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia. Confederate leader Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union leader Ulysses S. Grant. There were 169 Union casualties and around 500 Confederate casualties. 35,000 Conferderate soldiers were forced out of Virginia. Almost 8,000 surrendered their weapons.
