Pearl Harbor
The Japanese air raided Pearl Harbor in Hawii. Their plan was to sink all of America's battleships. The Japanese had planned a three wave attack. After the first two waves the Japanese decided they had done enought damage and canceled the third wave. -
Germany and Italy declare war on the U.S.
When the U.S. declared war on Japan, Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S. as a response to the U.S. declaring war on one of the Axis Powers. -
Bataan Death March
On April 9, 1942 troops surrendered to the Japanes due to malnutrition and low supplies. The troops were dying from lack of nutrients than of actual enemy fire. There wasn't enough room for the Japanese to transport them to the prision camp in San Fernando. They marched 70 miles from Mariveles to San Fernando. The march was a plea for lie for these men. -
End of the Battle of Stalingrod
Close to half a million troops lost their lifes in the Battle of Stalingrod. For the Soviet Union it was a great victory though they lost a lot of troops. Germany on the other hand suffered a great lost and was never able to fully recover. The Battle of Stalingrod was the begining of the end for the Nazis. -
Allied troops take over Sicily
Allied troops reach Messina and begin Operation "Double Strike". They airraded German forces. By the end of the night the allied troops had taken control of all of Sicily, Italy. -
D-Day
The Allied Powers landed on the Normandy beaches to fight the Nazis. There were more than five thousands ships and thirteen thousand aircrafts. Nine thousand allied troups were killed or wounded, but more than one hundred thousand soliders survived to make the march across France to Hilter destroying every concentration camp they came across. -
U.S. air raids Okinawa
After the U.S. marine forces had fully taken over the Mariana Islands they started to bomb Japan. They started by air raiding Okinawa and worked their way to Japan's home front. -
Hitler commits suicide
Hitler was under pressure while the Soviet Union was quickly advancing towards them and making the German soliders retreat in fear while burning down concentration camps on the way. As soliders were retreating they were also running to surrender to the Americans. Hilter was deserted by his men and realized it so he stayed in Berlin and waited for the Soviet Union. On April 30, 1945 Hilter shot himself in the right temple freeing Germany of its tyrant. -
V-E Day
May 8th is known as V-E Day standing for Victory Over Europe Day. This is considered the day the Allies Powers defeated the Axis Powers in Europe. Germany unconditionally surrendered May 7, 1945. The next day on May 8th they signed the surrender agreement. -
Atomic bomb/ Japenese surrender
The atomic bomb was dropped on the 6th of August. At first Japan did not surrender, but then the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and invaded Manchuria. Then the U.S. dropped another atomic bomb on the 9th of August. Five days later Japan surrendered unconditionally. They signed the surrender agreement September 2, 1945
