United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine
The resolution said that the British Mandate of Palestine would be divided in two separate states. One would be Jewish and one Arab. This Plan put into action to preserve peace. However it had the opposite effect and led to the Arab-Israeli war. -

Gamal Abdel Nasser is the seconds president of Egypt and was the president from january 1954 to the day he died. In the beginning of his presidency a lot of people didn't like him because he put the previous person under house arrest but later made people like him because he nationalized theSuez Canal. This decision then led to the Suez Crisis. Nasser was thought of as the most important politics in Arab history. -

The suez crisis was when Britain, France, and Israel attacked egypt in 1956. This war was due to egypt nationalizing the Suez Canal. Which happened because of the United States not funding the building of the Aswan Dam. -

Saddam Hussein was previously vice president but became president or dictator in 1979. Hussein maintained power through many wars and suppresed many movements during this time. Howver later, Hussein then fought against us and was eventually killed. -

the first intifada was Palistinians against the rule of israel. Palestinians "fought back" with civil disobedience, and terrorism. this violence was meant for israeli troops and civillians. However in the end more palistinians were killed over israelis. -
The Gulf War
the purpose of this war was to make iraqi forces leave Kuwait. When iraq invaded Kuwait it was immediately frowned on by the world. Then United States president, George H. W. Bush sent his forces to Saudi Arabia and urged other countries to do so also. -
9/11
A terrorist group from the middle east called al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes. Two crashed into the twin towers in NY, one into the pentagon in VA, and the last airplane was headed toward DC but crashed in a field due to the passengers trying to regain control. There were 2,973 victims not including the 19 hijackers that were killed during this attack. From this attack came the US launching the war on terrorism. -

The war on terror which has since been called the Overseas Contingency Operation was a result of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The purpose of this war, headed by the bush administration, was to find Osama Bin Laden and other members of al-Qaeda, destroy the terrorist group, and remove the Taliban regime. -

The Lebanon war was a war between israel and lebanon due to the fact that Lebanon was a place for terrorists, Terrorists from Lebanon killed an american tourist and hijacked a bus therefore Israeli troups invaded Lebanon and puolled out after two months so that the U.N. forces could enter.
