    She refused to give up her seat on a bus for a white person and was arrested for it.

    It was started to oppose racial segregation on the bus system and hurt the bus system finacially. It was where blacks would not ride the bus and woul donly walk.

  • Civil Rights Act of 1957

    The first civil rights legestation enacted since Reconstruction. Mainly a voting rights bill.

    Martin Luther King gave his famous i have a dream speech.

  • Thurgood Marshall

    First African American to become a Supreme Court judge. He was nominated by Lyndon Johnson and won the Brown vs. Board of Education case.
