    Revived lower class people into thinking they have a say in sociaty. It was a less borning way to teach about God and it was more exciting. The Great awakening made people start to question the way government was handled and made the lower class want to have a say in government.

    Fench and Indian War causes
    Was caused because of conflict with the french and indians over land and trade routes. England had been enemies for a long time anyways so they really didnt like the English. THe coloniest started attacking french trade posts and caused the French to get indian support for the war.
  • Battle of Fort Necessity

    Battle of Fort Necessity
    The battle was a three hour battle over the Ohio river valley. The coloniest wanted to move over to get more land and the french fought with the British troops. 1/3 of the British troops were killed which was the second biggest lost for them. General Braddock was killed in the battle so England needed a new plan to win.

    Was proposed by Benjamin Fanklin after he saw the Iraquois confederacy. He wanted coloniest to unite under one federal government. Each state would keep it'snown constitution . It was rejected by the colonial legislation because colonies did not want to give up power to a federal power. It shows the begining of conflict between colonial power and state power.

    The treaty of Paris ended the war and France lost a lot of land. British thought the colonist helped prevoke the war. They wanted the Americans to pay the war debt. The Americans felt their British leadership didnt support their interests to settle the Ohio river valley. Americans see a weakness in British military power because the war was so long and difficult and they realize gorilla warfare works well against them.

    PUt a tax on any legal document, newspaper, playing cards and dice. The was a stamp placed on the paper to prove that the tax had been paid. The coloniest didnt like it because it was the first direct tax on the coloniest. Roits broke out and colonies stated that England had no right to tax the colnies because the coloniest had no say in any laws. " taxation without represantation"
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    England is determined to exert control by wanting to use force. THey gave an exclusivTake monopaly toward the East India company. The tax made the colonist angry so they stopped ships from selling tea so England lost money. They threw millions of dollars of tea over board. The effects of the Boston Tea Party caused England to isolate MA and caused the Intolerable Acts to be written.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Coloniest taunted British soliders in Boston. They fired at the unarmed crowd. When the other colonist found out it became a symbol of the resistance toward England. They were tried in an American courts and found not quilty. England made a rule saying that British soilders would be tried in England. This became some of the intolerable acts.

    1st Continental Congress
    Meet to talk about the intolerable Acts. Some of the people favored boycotting but it can be problamatic because of smuggling. They asked what are their rights and how should they defend them. So they made it illegal to buy British tea or to drink it. They made a committee of Correspondence to enforce the new rules. They black listed people who didnt follow the rules. They tried to make this peaceful without mobs.

    The intolerable Acts were made to tell the king what they have done wrong. How England closed the port to Boston which united the colonies. THey felt that England hadnt treated them the same as British citizens. THis lead to the colonies wanting to break away from England.
