§My First Day§
On this date, I was born in Eisenach, Germany. My parents were very proud to have another baby boy, and knew that I would become blessed with music. I was baptized a few days later.

§My First Day of School§
I was so excited to start attending school! I always had a love for learning new things. My first school was at Lateinschule in Eisenach at age 7.

§Death of My Mother§
My poor mother could no longer live in the unsanitary conditions of our town. When she died on the first of May, my sickly father was heart-broken.

§Death of My Father§
When I was only 9 years old, my father died at the age of 49. His death was caused by unsanitary conditions in our town. I was now an orphan.

§In the Choir§
I was given a spot in the wealthy Michaelis Monastery in Luneburg to sing in their choir. I had an excellent sprano voice that got me the spot. The monastery was known for giving poor, musically talented boys a place to stay if we would sing for them.

§An Organ Job§
When I was only 18 years old, I tooked the post as organist in my church. I was thrilled to be ale to provide music for my congregation.

§My First Cantata§
I got to conduct 'Gott ist mein König' my first Cantata at the inaguration of the Town Council in Muhlhausen. This success gave me the courage to put in a report as to the need of a new organ in a nearby church

§A High Position§
On this date, I was elected as the leader of the orchestra for the Court of Weimer. Now I was only second to the old and frail Capellmeister Johann Samuel Drese.

§Work in Cothen§
While working in Cothen, I was frequently asked to compose Cantatas for the Prince's Birthday and the New Year. One of the Cantatas would be sacred, and the other secular.

§Work in Leipzig§
I moved to Leipzig, where I was to live and work as Cantor, or Directore Chori Musici Lipsiensis. This means the Director of Choir and Music in Leipzig.

§The Collegium§
In the spring of 1729, I took over directorship of the Collegium. The Collegium was a society of amature musicians to whom I was involved.

§New Improvements§
While my apartments were being renovated for the next year, I used my time to compse cantatas. When the renovations were done, I lit up the halls with my music.

§My Death§
This was my last day. I had been ill for a while, but then finally died of a stroke in the evening. I was burried in St. John's cemetary, but now rest in the Thomaskirche today.
