Iraqi troops invaded and occupied Kuwait, a small oil-rich emirate on the Persian Gulf. Saddam Hussein was the leader of Iraq and gave the order for the invasion. -
Defending Saudi Arabian border
The "Bush Admin." took action to Saddams invasion and sent 180,000 troops to protect the Saudi Kingdom. During this Bush convinced Turkey and Syria to close Iraqi oil pipelines. -
Change in Saudi Arabia
Bush sent in more men into Saudi Arabia. He doubled the size of the troops and was ready to use the force against Iraq if they didn't withdraw by January 1991. -
Bill Clinton as President
Bill Clinton defeates George Bush and Ross Perot and becomes President. Clinton recived 43 percent of votes while Bush and Perot recived 38 and 19 percent. -
Mid term elections
The Republican party won control of both houses of Congess. Republicans were campaigning on a ten-point "Contract With America". -
Impeachment
The House Judiciary Committee approved of four articles of impeachment. The articles asserted that Clinton had committed perjury, obstruced justice and abused his power. -

The 21st ccentury has started and America is high on world power. America has the worlds strongest army and is the strongest, weilthiest and most powerful.
