In May of 1927, Charles Lindbergh broke a flying record. he was the first person to ever fly across the Atlantic Ocean solo. Lindbergh beacame very famous after this successful flight. This was a big record for flying at this time. -

What Went Wrong Around The World
On June 1, Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan took off around the world. Amelia made a mistake and flew North instead of South. She flew in the wrong direction off course, and crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Because her radio was not working, ships could not get a hold of her and never found her because she was so off course. Some people think she was taken by the Japanese, but we will never know. -

On July2, 1937, Amelia Earhart disappeared. She vanished over the Pacific Ocean, almost done with her flight around the world. No matter how hard people tried, searcherss could not find Amelia Earhart. Nobody knows the exact date of her death.
