In 1906 on Christmas eve Reginal Fesssenden made the first ever radio broadcast in history. It took time to pull it off, he had transmitted the first ever voice message in 1900 and it took him 6 years to change and adjust his invention for broadcasting. Now instead of using Morse code through the radio to communicate, you could hear the other person’s voice. -
Car Radios
Blaupunkt, a German manufacturer in electronic equipment, were the first to put a radio in a car. They chose the Studebaker as the first car to put a radio in. These radios were smaller and wired directly to the car. -
FM Radio
The first FM radio transmission was sent in 1935 by Howard Armstrong, though experiments with FM had been done before then. The FM radio has many advantages over AM. Two advantages are less radiated power and less distortion from things like buildings and traffic. -
The Boom Box
The boom box was an AM and FM radio, but it was also a cassette player. It was made with many output jacks so it could hooked up to a bunch of other equipment like microphones and turntables. It was a portable and small system. -
Modern Radio
Modern radio has many advancement since its first appearance. Modern radio’s can run on batteries, and can have LCD display screens. They can also have 10 preset stations that you can pick and when not in use as a radio it can display the date and time on the screen.
