    Lincoln was born February 12th, 1809 in his fathers cabin. then 51 years later, he was elected president in 1860. Within four months into his presidancy, seven staates were already seceded.Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, louisisana and texas all became confederate states. At the battle of ft. Sumpter, Lincoln ordered the Navy to blockade the southern ports.

    on the tenth of april the confederate commander named Brig Beaurogaurd demanded the union surrender Ft. Sumter in the Charleston Harbor.Getting a refusal, on April 12th, the Confederates opened fire on the fort in aggirvation to the refusal. startina a whole chain reaction, and the battle was on. Early morning on april 13th 1861, Anderson eventually surrended the fort, and admitted defeat to the confederates with no casualties.

    The great battle of Gettysburg started off by the confederates heading there to steal much needed shoesm supplies and food. The union was trying hard and fighting to hold gettysburg against the Rebels since the general knew a lot of main roads and paths lead to Gettysbug. The Confederates eventually drove the Union through Gettysburg to Cemetary Hill just south of the the town. Lee ordered new general Ewell to attack in his station.
  • Harpers Ferry

    Harpers Ferry is a town in Jeffferson County, It is the setting of a lot of disputes, battles and death in the Civil War. Lee decided that Harpers Ferry was a battle he wouldnt want to lose, so he and his soldiers moved in and surrounded it. His strategy was to seperate all his soldiers into groups. at the end of the battle, on September 15th, it was surrendered over. When Confederate artilary was placed on heights, the Union Commander surrendered along with 12,000 other men.
  • Antietam Battlefield

    On September 17th, 23000 soldiers were killed. That is just an estimate because several soldiers were missing, and most were wounded. The Confederates were putting up a good fight, but eventually got retreated back across the Potomac River
  • Battle of Fredricksburg

    General Robert Lee entrenched his army behind town. On December 11th , engineers from the union lit five bridges on fire, one day later, the Federal army was crossing over. On the 13th, a day later, Burnside attacked and did several assaults on Prospect Hill. It was on that day that Union Generals C. Jackson, and George Bayer were killed in the Battle that day. Also Confederate Generals Thomas Cobb, and Maxeyy Gregg
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Abraham Lincoln made a document that stated that any states thet rebelled and seceeded have to give up their slaves and let them go free. Abraham Lincoln decided that the rebels must free their slaves or consequences were abliged. The Proclamation also stated that any slaves that were released must not commit murder, assault, or take revenge on their previous owner. To some, the Proclamation is a win-lose deal. The slaves were freed, but couldnt take revenge.
  • Siege of Knoxville

    In November of 1863, the Knoxvill Campaign began, and Longstreek decided to lead 17,000 troops from their station in Chatanooga and moved to secure Eastern Tennesee for the Confederates. Afterwards, the 17,000 troops were lead and headed towards Knoxville. Longstreek continued the siege in hopes to drive the troops away from Chatanooga. With a success, and 25,000 Union troops were removed from Chatanooga.
  • Battle of Chatanooga

    In late October and early November 1863, General Braxton Braggs army laid siege to the Union Army at Chatanooga, which cut off supplies. On November 23-25, the Union Army managed to take over and capture Orchard Knob, and Lookout Mountain, seizing it into their possession. After that, on November 25, the Union Army decided to invade and take over the Confederaates position on Missionary Ridge. The battle to take over Chatanooga was eventually a success for the union.
  • Shermans March to the Sea

    General Sherman lead some troops south of Chatanooga on May 6th 1864 . General Sherman lead his 55,000 troops to a place called Dalton. There, he could begin a series of flanking movements. His troops lead the Confederates off away to a place called Resaca Station. On September 2, 1861 Sherman took all of atlanta
  • Battle of Cold Harbor

    On May 31st, 1864, Sheridans Calvary seized the main crossroads of Cold Harbor. on June 1st, Sheridans armies threw an attack by the Confederates infantry. Confederate reinforcements finnaly arrived from richmond. The Union Corps assaulted the Confederate works, with a winning success. By the next day both the Union and the Confederates were on the battlefield on cold harbor. After days of fighting and defending, the Confederacy eventually won the Battle.
  • Appomattox Courthouse

    The Appomattoc Courthouse ordeal is when General Robert Lee finnally surrendered, cut his losses, and decided to meet with General Grant on on April 9th, 1865 at the house of Wilmer Mclean in the Appomatix Courthouse Village. The two generals met there, went in to discuss. Approximately two and a half hours later, the Confederate armies decided that the Union won the Civil War. The Appomatox Courthouse was the setting of the agreement to end one of the most prolonged wars in history.
  • Assassination of Lincoln

    President Lincoln was our 16th president. and in his time, he helped us through one of the biggest wars in our history, The assassins name was John Wikes Booth, who was an actor at the time.Lincoln at the timw was at a play in Fords theatre in Washington D.C. At around 10:00 pm John somehow managed to sneak up to the Presidential box, where he shot Lincoln in the head and escaped through the back door. A doctor in the audience rushed to his aid, but he died the next morning.
