The Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was created as the governing body during the American Revolution. Because of its poor ability to get revenue and due to the lack of a central power, it failed and will make the Constitutional Convention be called in 1787 -

The Constitutional Convention of 1787
The Constitutional Convention met from May 14th, 1787 to September 17th, 1787 to find a new Constitution that would replace the Articles of Confederation. Through this, the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan were created.After many discussions, the convention created the U.S. Constitution to be ratified and decided by the States. -
Ratification of the Bill of Rights
George Washington sent states the 12 proposed amendments that were created during the Constitutional Convention so that states can decide whether or not they wanted to ratify the amendments. Fortunately, 10 of the 12 amendments were ratified by the states, which is result in the Bill of Rights being included in the U.S. Constitution. -
First Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances". Seventh Amendment
"In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law". Bill of Rights Now in the U.S. Constitution
Since the needed 3/4ths of states ratified 10 of the amendments, the Bill of Rights was added into the U.S. Constitution and became the rights of all American citizens. This includes the first 10 amendments only. -

Fourth Amendment
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." The Civil War was happening in the country during this period. Slave rights and state rights were being fought for by the Confederate States, which were states that left the Union before the war. -
Thirteenth Amendment

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Section 2
