Setting
Set in the future around 2070 a girl named Jenna fox and her mother and grandmother moved from Boston to California. It is almost fall and warmer there than in Boston. There are hovering cars an a lot of advancements in technology, -
The Accident
Jenna Fox and her friends Kira and Locke took the car Jennas parents bought her before any of them were allowed to drive. Something went wrong and they got in a serious accident. Jenna was in a coma for a year and is suffering from complete memory loss. She doesnt remember that she had friends or what happened to them. -
New Home
The day Jenna came out of her coma she was immediately moved to California with her mother and grandmother to a new house while her father stayed in Boston for work. She was told to watch DVDs of her life to help her remember. There was one disk for each year and her parents had taped everything, She starts realizing that her grandmother doesnt like her very much but she can't figure out why. -
New Friends
After a few days in her new home Jenna starts to pick up on a few words again. She decides to explore the back yard with caution. She goes down by the pond to where her neighbor Mr. Bender sits drawing pictures. She is very straight forward with him and they become friends quickly. Mr. Bender seems to know more about Jenna than she does. After they spend time together he tells her to be careful of the house on the end of the street and that you can find almost anything on the internet. -
School
Jenna tries to find information on the accident she was in to help her remember but everything on the internet is denied from her netbook. She decides she wants to go back to school and be normal but her mother is completely against that. After thinking it over her mother tells her she can only go to a certain school and that she should never tell anyone about her accident. -
Socalizing
When Jenna starts school she meets the 5 other students in the whole school. They each have something special about them, the other girl in the class he artificial limbs and they all say they have a reason to be put in the special school. This is the first time Jenna has been allowed to socialize with other people and wants to make a lot of friends. One boy named Dane is the boy who lives in the hosue at the end of the street where she is not supposed to go. -
Community Projects
For a school requirement the students have to do a community project. Jenna works with Ethan at the church when her memories start coming back to her. She remembers being baptized which she thinks she should not ber able to remember normally and starts to think there is something different about her, something off. Her and Ethan become close and start to like eachother. Her grandmother thinks its a bad idea for her to have a boyfriend, -
Secrets
Jennas grandmother told her to watch the last disk in the series her parents gave her. She likes to watch them in order but becomes more curious about things in the house. She realizes that there is a door in the back of her closet which leads to an empty room. She starts to look around the house and sees a smilar door in her mothers room but it is locked so she looks for the key and opens the door to find 3 computer hard drives with her and her friends names on them. -
Remembering
Jenna starts to remember more about the crash and tells Ethan about it even though she is not supposed to. She feels like a different person and starts questioning who her friends are, what happened and why she feels the way she does. He parents are very hesitant. After a while Jenna cuts herself and bleeds but it stops suddenly and she realizes she is not completely human. -
Discovery
After getting hurt Jenna borrows Mr.Benders computer and looks up information about the accident. She find out that her two best friends died in the crash and forces her parents to tell her what happened to her. Her parents tell her that there was only ten percent of her brain left so they used her fathers biogel to make her a new body that would function and grow. -
Computer Hard Drives
When Jennas parents tell her about what she is made of she still feels like there is more to the story so she goes back to get the computer hard drives to find out what is in them. She takes it to her parents and demands they tell her what they are for. The parents are taken by suprise that she found them and tell her they store the memory of her friends. She thinks this means their souls are stuck inside the computers just incase they build bodies for them too. -
The Lake
Jenna decides to take the hard drives of her and her friends and throw them into the pond after she locks her parents in their room and makes them watch out the window. They are very upset because if anyting were to go wrong with her that would have been the only back up of her. Jenna feels like she is setting her friends and herself free and is very happy after. -
Long Life
Jenna ends up living over 200 years which was the highest her father had expected. She helped her friend with no limbs by making her a body and they both lived together. Jenna and Ethan were happy together for 70 years until he died, After Ethan died Jenna had a baby made for her. Since then the world was more accepting of the technology used in them but put a limit on people life. -
Response
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me entertained the whole time and it was not very predictable. I liked that there was a bit of romance tied in and a lot of science behind it. Jenna was made up very well and I think it is pretty realistic to how a normal family would react if that happened to them. It could be very possible int he near future and I would suggest this book to all my friends.
