    I entered the Roses Management Training Program in Augusta, Ga. After realizing that the company had no concise vision for the impending competition from national retailers like Walmart, I decided to jump ship and look for work back home in Tn. After reading this Wikipedia Entry, looks like I made the right decision.

    I begin work at Babbage's Software's first store in Nashville as an Assistant Manager. Over the next 4 1/2 years, I lead two stores to the company's Store of the Month Honors, lead the Hickory Hollow location to the highest comp % improvement in sales for an entire year. I am transferred to Memphis to revitalize the store.

    I send a demo disk to Babbage's Corporate Office in Dallas that contains a hyperlink mock up for a website for the company. Since web browsers were limited to either mostly text-based programs (Internet Explorer and Mozilla did not yet exist) or expensive graphic versions like Mosaic, I created a Windows Help file to simulate how a web page worked.

    My website demo disk leads to a phone call from someone at the newly formed Neostar Retail Group marketing department with questions on how websites work. She indicates that she wants to work with me further to develop the concept for the company's first website, but she never follows up. However, the company's first website is unveiled about 6 months later with many items / concepts mentioned in my demo.

    After successfully improving the sales and operations of the Memphis Babbage's store, I am promoted to District Manager in San Antonio. My stores cover an area from Killeen to Harligen, Tx. During the year, the San Antonio district is recognized as a leading district in the company in sales. One week before closing on my house in NW San Antionio, I am transferred to Ft. Myers, FL.

    I move to Ft. Myers to manage the newly created Western Florida District. The district grows from 8 stores to 12 then finally down to 6 stores during re-alignments of districts and closing stores. During my tenure, I am responsible for both Babbage's Stores and Software Etc stores as a result of Babbage's Inc. buying Software Etc and forming Neostar Retail Group.

    After a series of events where Neostar Retail Group goes through a major upheaval where Neostar's CEO steps down and is bought out by the chairman of the board of directors, I decide that it is time to leave the retail sector due to the chance of constant moving and not wanting to work for the new management team / owner. My wife and I decide to move back to Alabama. We leave Ft Myers in 85 degree weather and arrive in Lincoln, AL in 30 degree weather and snow.

    I use space I have with my AOL account to create a basic PSI website. After a detailed explanation to the company's president about how the somewhat high cost of renting webspace is less expensive than than the price of one of our company advertisements in a trade publication, he decides to register a the domain name and rent web space. Thus PSI becomes one of the first companies in its market with a website.

    The Alabama State Department of Education adopts changes to my curriculum, moving my program from the Technical Education Cluster to the Commerce and Business Information Systems Cluster. This is a welcome move as it comes closer to paralleling current Information Technology Industry trends.

    Upgrade PSIPalm Product
    Add the ability for Drivers / Meter Readers to enter data from the field for import back into the PSI Suite. This saves the office data entry workers time by eliminating the need for them to manually enter the day's deliveries. This update increases PSI's advantage over competetive software pacakages.
