    William Bradford
Did William Bradford's lack of education lead to his succes?
William Bradford was only taught the trades of farming as a child, never had a formal education. I think this led to his success, because the more educated you are, the more your mind is influenced by others. Bradford was never taught formaly about religion, so he created his own. If he had been educated, then Bradford might not have made the unique colony and religion that he did. He was able to approach tasks with a clear head.

    Mary Rowlandson
Did Rowlandson's religous beliefs cause her motherly instincts to fail?
During her captivity, Rowlandson and her child were in a poor state of health, and the natives intended to kill her child. In Rowlands writing, she doesn't seem to disagree with this option. Perhaps this was because, in her captivity, she had lost some of her motherly insincts, but I believe it was her puritan views. I believe that she thought her daughter would go to heaven and be in less pain than her current position.
