Akbar ruled from 1556 to 1605 and conquered Surat, Calcutta and Dacca. He had a strong military power and used heavy artillery. -

104 settlers from England landed in Jamestwon, Virginia. This city was named after King James I of England. -

Champlain conquered Quebec for France. This place was an important city to the French during this time of exploration. -

Henry Hudson sailed for the Dutch to find a Northeastern passage. On his travels, he discovered the bay, river and strait now named after him. -

The English Separatist Puritans left England in search for a better life and a place where they could practice they're religion freely. The 101 settlers arrived at Plymouth Rock where they started their new life after 65 days at sea on the Mayflower. -

The Dutch gained control of Malacca with help from the Sultan of Johore. The Dutch had an agreement that they old get rid of the Portuguese and the Malays would have the thrown. The Dutch wanted Malacca, however, because it was on a main trade route to the Far East. -
