China and Russia have affected the U.S. economically and politically as well. Tension has most certainly rose up between the U.S. and Russia China. -
9/11
(Photo Credit: Britannica) The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks greatly impact America and brought fear to the rest of the world as well. It shaped the mentality of Americans, and brought both mourning and unity to the nation. Nearly 3,000 citizens were lost as a result of this attack. -
Technology Dominates
(Photo Credit: Digit) In 2007, iphone released their first smartphone. Since then smartphones have really skyrocketed. Most people I know have them, and it has shaped both culture and politics in the generation I live in today. The other huge technology rising dramatically is Artificial Intelligence (AI). We have driverless cars now in California, and robots working at food chains. AI has impacted the US education system too. AI continues to grow stronger and stronger, perform more and more. -
The Great Recession
(Photo Credit: The Entrepreneur Ethos) Between 2007-2009 a huge recession took place in America. 8.8. million jobs were lost in the U.S. alone, and there was a Eurozone debt crisis worldwide. Stock markets and the housing market crashed hard. The Lehman Brothers Bank failed, and the economy took a hard toll. -
Coronavirus
(Photo Credit: Science Diplomacy) Covid-19 was released in 2019, and a global pandemic spread in December of that year. It led to a nationwide lockdown, and a shift of 'in-person' to 'virtual.' It shaped many 'at home' jobs we see today. Lives were lost (numbers tend to vary due to politics), and it was a season of 'unknown' many will remember forever. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics were held a year late, an example of the world's mood during this pandemic.
