Afghanistan War
On September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the Twin Towers in New York City. On October 7, 2001 President Bush announced that the United States had begun military action in Afghanistan. NATO Allies went into Afghanistan to ensure that the country would not again become a safe haven for international terrorists to attack NATO member countries. -
Foreign Affairs: Benghazi Attack
Islamic militant group, Ansar al-Sharia, attacked the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, setting fires to cars and buildings. The attacks resulted in the deaths of the US Ambassador and three other Americans and 10 people injured. Four Americans died in the Benghazi attack, they both were Navy Seals. -
Social: Ice Bucket Challenge
The ice bucket challenge was created to bring awareness for ALS, raising $115 million. This wasnt just for social media, this brought more and awareness to druge that needs to be funded and familes that had ALS. This was a world wide event that brought awareness, appreication and understanding. -
Deployed to Bahrain/Saudi
After navy police academy, which was in San Antion Texas, I was stationed in Bahrain for almost 3 years. It was quite a culture shock. Ramadan was happening when i first got there so we had to quickly abide by the rules. There were many scary days, tear gas, riots, bombs. It was a great time overall but i wouldnt want to go back. -
President Donald Trump was elected
On November 8, 2016 Donald Trump was elected President in the largest Electoral College landslide for a Republican in 28 years. He had many accomplimshments, unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century, America gained 7 million new jobs, Jobless claims hit a nearly 50-year low, small business confidence hit a new high. -
Technology: Drone Defender Progam initiated in US Navy
The increase of drone use is becming a huge concern for the US Military. Establishing a C-UAS team was needed to potentially stop a lethal attack on US bases. A Drone Defender quickly disrupts a adversary's control of the drone, neutralized it so that no remote action, including detonation, could occur, minimizing drone damage and risk to public safety. -
Foreign Affairs: The World Health Organization declares the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a pandemic.
Originating in China, the virus hit the US hard, along with many other countries. There was a huge lack of comminication from China about what was happening and how long this virus was going on for. This affected everyone, the relationshp between China and the US, Japans economy, the Middle easts economy and oil, and mnay countries becoming "hot-spots". -
Attack on the US Capitol
OnJanuary 6, 2021, a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters descend on the U.S. Capitol, attempting to interfere with the certification of electoral votes because of the 2020 elections. Some say it was rigged because Biden won. Thousands marched toward the capital, soon entering the building and cuase havoc. This went on for mnay hours until police and the military took control of the situation. -
President Biden was elected
Biden was sworn in by U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts as the 46th president of the United States. Biden administration called for stricter gun legislation after Uvalde. It was the first significant gun safety law in 30 years. -
First daughter was born
My daughter was supposed to be born in October, but instead she came 5 months early. I went into septic shock which made her come very early. 1lb 10oz. She spent 4 months in the NICU and 9 months in the Cardiac ICU. -
Daughters first open heart surgery
My daugher hasd her first open heart surgery in September of 2021 at UF Shands Childrens Hospital, she was only 3lbs. She has CHD and will eventually need 2 more surgeries ontop of the 2 she already has had. She is the definition of a fighter! -
Social: Roe v Wade
U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v Wade declaring that the constitutional right to abortion, upheld for nearly a half century no longer exists. In the first few months after Roe was overturned, 18 states banned or severely restricted abortion. Many women now are leaving their states to search for states allowing abortion. -
Son was born
My kids are irish twins, a year apart. He was born at 11:11(my lucky boy) in Gainesville, FL. He is his sisters best friend and the a-typical boy, very into sports ans running around the house like a maniac. I cannot belive hes about to be two! -
Canadian Wildfires
There were 1,054 active wildfires in Canada, including 230 in the Northwest Territories and 669 deemed out of control. The smoke was able to been seen and smelled all the way down in the Southern States including Florida. 40 million acres were destroyed, displacing more than 30,000 people and temporarily shutting down oil and gas production. These were started from lightening and also humans. -
First family trip
For my sons 1st birthday we went to Chicago to have his party, which is my hometown. I havent been back home in years due to being stationed all over the world. This was the first time i got to bring my husband and my kids to my hometown! -
Cultural: Taylor Swift is at the Superbowl 2024
This year with Taylor Swift being at the Superbowl, millions of more women and chidlren watched, bringing way more publicity and revenue to the NFL. This is the first time in NFL history there has been this much media coverage and celebrities attending. Little girls were finally watching football with their fathers because they knew she was there.
