In Virginia a system of public school was created for the first time, but were only segregated. -

In 1896, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Louisiana's segregated "White" and "Colored" seating on railroad cars. -

segregation was so common and normal that even things as simple as water fountains were segregated. -
thurgood marshall
Thurgood Marshall was nominated to be the first black associate justice of the Supreme Court in the USA. This event showed the world that desegregation was active in the US, even in the government. -
integrated classrooms
Because of the Brown vs. Education and Alexander vs. Education, integration in the classroom was finally possible and finally active. -
protest against integration
Althought integration was supported by the 14 amendmendment, there were many people protesting integration.
