Coronavirus Update
More than 20,000 people in the US have died, marking a higher death toll than Italy. Los Angeles announced that it would be deploying medical street teams to protect the homeless from coronavirus. The team will provide the homeless with fast tests, medical counseling and check-ups, and information on shelters and hotels they can stay at in the meantime. -
Murder Hornets in the US
A highly venomous and invasive hornet species, dubbed “Murder Hornets,” have been spotted in the US. The hornets originated in Asia, but have now been spotted in Washington state. They have been killing the already dying bee population in the state. The hornets are longer than two inches, and if stung multiple times, a human can die from the sting. -
Black Lives Matter Protest
Many of dozens of US cities joined the Black Lives Matter protests, which have since turned violent as protesters clashed with police. The protesters grew more outraged as it was announced that Jake Gardner will not be charged with murder after shooting a protester in Omaha, Nebraska. The judge stated that Gardner acted in self-defense. -
Shootings across the country
Over the holiday weekend, children were among the many victims affected by gun violence. Shootings in Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington DC left three children under the age of 12 dead. Another shooting in Chicago left a 14-year-old girl fatally wounded. -
