This is when God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Afterward, he stopped him and provided him with a ram to sacrifice.
God continues to advance his mission to reflect glory in this story by testing Abraham and by him succeeding, allowing him to continue the line through Isaac. Cistern near Dothan - Joseph Typology Part 1 (Joseph is sold into Slavery)
In the first part, we focus on the OT passage. In Genesis 37: 18-20, Joseph's brothers see him coming to find them and plot to kill him. But after a bit of discussing after throwing him into the cistern, they see some Ishmaelites coming and decide to sell him to them instead of killing him and getting blood on their hands. The transaction was for 20 pieces of silver. (Genesis 37:28) This connects to the New Testament when we see Jesus being betrayed to the priests by Judas, again for silver. -

Garden of Gethsemane - Joseph Typology Part 2 (Judas Betrays Jesus)
This part, we focus on the passage in the New Testament. In Matthew 26:14, we see Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane. He meets up with the priests and agrees to hand over Jesus to them for 30 pieces of silver. This connects to the part I mentioned in part 1, where Joseph was sold for 20 pieces of silver. It means that both of them were betrayed by the people close to them for some pieces of silver. They were betrayed by the same things. -

Hong Kong - Personal Reflection
I can identify with the passage Genesis 18: 10-15, because in there, Sarah hears the messengers telling Abram she will have a son. Hearing that, she laughed because she thought it was impossible because of her old age. I can identify with her because there are times, especially in the last year, when I doubt God. I doubt about his existence, or his power, or the Bible. After reading this and knowing what happens after, I realized that I need to trust in God and his plan. He knows what's best. -
Hong Kong - Abram's name is Great (Covenant)
We can see God's covenant with Abraham being fulfilled today just by being in the world. Even if you're not religious, you know about religion. The two biggest religions in the world are Christianity and Islam. Both of those came from Abraham. In Genesis 12, God says that he will make his name great. Now, he's the father of the two major religions in the world. Everyone knows who Abraham is, therefore fulfilling the covenant.
