A life simulation game created by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The Sims remains a popular computer game to this day. -
BitTorrent Launched
It was created by Bram Cohen. Although created in April of 2001, it was not released until July 2, 2001. It enabled its users to upload and download files which caused alot of copyright holders to blame them for the pirating of their intellectual property. -
The Centibot Project
A project funded by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in 2002. A system made of about 100 robots whose job was to build a map in real time and seek points and items of interest. If/when one robot would fail, another would take its place. -
Myspace released
Created by Tom Anderson and Chris Dewolfe. It was the first of its kind to reach a global audience. And probably played a huge role in the early success of sites like Youtube. -
World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft comes online and soon becomes the largest and most popular MMORPG of its time. It still remains one of the most played games to this day. Since its release it has had 9 expansion packs with the most recent being released in 2022. -
WikiLeaks
It was founded by a group of journalist in Iceland and was intended to serve the purpose of sharing secret information, news leaks, documents, and other similar information in an anonymous manner using the WikiLeaks uploader. It was made famous in 2010 when it was used to start the release hundreds of over two hundred thousand U.S. cables. -
1tb Hard Drives!!!
It was released by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in 2007. The worlds first HDD made by IBM only had a storage capacity of 3.75mb.
