Original Apple iPod
Inventors: Steve Jobs, Jon Rubinstein. Within the rise of portable digital devices such as digital cameras and camcorders, Apple had wanted to revolutionize personal digital media players, as ones that had existed at the time were considered "too big and clunky". The device was slim enough to fit in a pocket, and relied on a mechanical wheel to shift through songs. This began the line of portable media players which would eventually lead to greater mobile devices, such as the iPhone or iPad. -
Facebook
Founder: Mark Zuckerberg. Co Founder: Eduardo Saverin.
Originally inspired by the "face book" used in Harvard directories, Facebook (originally called "thefacebook"), was developed as a new and improved online directory where you could look up not only other Harvard students, but students based in other ivy league schools as well. It became public in 2006, and has revolutionized the way we connect with people. One of the great founders of social media, right behind MySpace. -
YouTube
Founders: Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, Jawed Karim. YouTube was created with the idea of being a video sharing site, originally made with the intention of being more dating oriented, the founders eventually decided to give the site more general use. The website was bought out by Google in 2006 for 2.65 billion dollars, and is now known to be the premier video sharing site worldwide, and has even made its way to becoming a mainstream television site. -
Nintendo Wii
Developer: Shigeru Miyamoto (Nintendo). Originally called the Nintendo Revolution, the Wii was developed to give new spin on player interaction, as they had developed a motion controlled stick called the "Wii Remote" as the controller for the console. The Wii changed the way video games were played, as it encouraged more engagement from the players through motion controls, and went on to become a top selling video game console. -
Original Apple iPhone
Creator: Steve Jobs. The Apple iPhone was one of the world's first revolotuinary smart phones, complete with a touchscreen user interface, a new concept at the time, compared to holding a physical keyboard. This completely changed the way that phones were used, as other companies like Google followed this path to create new and improved versions of the touch screen user interface.
