  • Newspaper

    Benjamin Harris published Publick Occurrences Both Forreign and Domestick. This is considered the first newspaper in the American colonies even though only one edition was published before the paper was suppressed by the government.
  • Telephone

    The telephone was created by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. The first phone call had Alexander speak to his assistant and say "Mr. Watson--come here--I want to see you".
  • Microphone

    The first microphone was developed by David Edward Hughes in England. However, Thomas Edison was given the first patent, even though Hughes showed off his invention years earlier in public.
  • First Movie

    The first movie was shown in 1895, and was in black and white, with no sound. It was under a minute long, and shown by the Skladanowsky Brothers.
  • First Television News Channel

    Lowell Thomas was the host of the first news broadcast. The show was only ever seen in New York and was broadcasted by the channel "WNBT".
  • Computer Printer

    The first computer printer was developed by Remington Rand, and was made to be used by the Universal Automatic Computer. It was actually a really decent product, so they began manufacturing for all different kinds of computers.
  • First Video Game System

    The "Magnavox Odyssey" is considered the first home video game system. It was released by Magnavox and spawned many other consoles like "Atari" and "Nintendo".
  • The Internet

    ARPANET hired researchers to assemble a "network of networks". Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, and is what we continue to use today.
  • First Smartphone

    The Simon Personal Communicator was created by IBM and is considered the world's first smartphone.
  • YouTube

    The worlds biggest outlet to share videos was created in San Mateo, California. The first ever video uploaded was by the creators titled "Me at the zoo", where they recorded themselves having fun at the San Diego Zoo.
